EYE UNIT - INCHARGE
HEALTHCARE SECTOR
The Eye Unit- In charge is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the Eye unit by coordinating patient services, assisting clinical and administrative teams, and ensuring a smooth, patient-focused experience in line with Ninewells Hospital standards.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or Degree in Healthcare Administration, Hospital Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a hospital, clinic coordination, or healthcare administrative role.
- Experience in an eye clinic or specialty clinic will be a distinct advantage.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office and hospital information systems.
- A patient-focused, professional, and proactive approach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Eye Unit In-Charge should be accountable for the complete operational performance of the Eye Unit.
- Coordinate with consultants regarding patient queues, special requirements, and changes to schedules.
- Ensure smooth patient flow from registration through consultation, investigations, treatment, and discharge.
- Ensure patients receive clear information regarding appointments, procedures, investigations, and follow-up.
- Handle patient concerns and coordinate timely resolution of complaints.
- Maintain a high standard of patient experience and satisfaction.
- Coordinate daily clinic and theatre schedules with ophthalmologists.
- Ensure consultation rooms and procedure areas are ready before sessions.
- Prepare and manage staff duty rosters according to operational requirements.
- Conduct staff briefings and ensure effective communication within the unit.
- Identify training needs and coordinate relevant training programs.
- Ensure all ophthalmic equipment is available and functioning properly.
- Monitor stock levels of ophthalmic consumables, drugs, implants, and non-medical items.
