VACANCY
CITY SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following post at the City School of Architecture (CSA) an internationally recognized private higher education institute in Sri Lanka offering Architecture courses at undergraduate level and post graduate level in partnership with the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, UK;
ACCOUNTANT
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Prepare monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis reports
- Manage day-to-day finance operations, including bank reconciliations, invoicing, cash management, payroll processing, online payments, and cheque issuance.
- Ensure timely compliance with statutory obligations, including EPF, ETF, taxation, and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with banks on banking operations, foreign remittances, investments, and treasury-related matters.
- Liaise with external auditors, company secretaries, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure timely completion of statutory and corporate requirements.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and ensure proper custody of financial records, contracts, agreements, and confidential company documents.
- Monitor budgets and financial performance, conduct variance analysis, and provide recommendations to improve financial efficiency and internal controls.
- Present monthly financial reports and key performance updates to the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Report directly to the CEO.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, and/or Part-qualified CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA, or CMA.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting. Previous experience in the higher education or education sector will be considered a distinct advantage.
- Sound knowledge of Sri Lanka Accounting Standards, taxation, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, MYOB, Xero, or similar ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities within deadlines.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Preferred age: 30-40 years.
