FABRIC AND TRIMS TECHNOLOGIST

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Source and evaluate fabrics and trims that meet design, quality, performance, and cost requirements.
- Develop and approve fabric and trim specifications in accordance with customer standards.
- Coordinate material development with suppliers, buyers, merchandising, and product development teams.
- Review laboratory test reports and ensure compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Manage material approvals, including lab dips, strike-offs, handlooms, bulk submissions, and first bulk approvals.
- Involve in resolving fabric and trim quality issues during development and production.
- Monitor supplier performance and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure materials comply with sustainability, environmental, and restricted substance requirements.
- Maintain technical documentation, material libraries, specifications, and approval records.
- Support product performance by recommending suitable fabrics and trims.
- Keep up to date with new textile technologies, material innovations, and market trends.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Textile Technology, Clothing Technology, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in fabric and trims development, sourcing, or textile technology within the apparel or soft toys manufacturing industry.
- Experience working with international apparel brands is an advantage.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of woven, knitted, and toy fabrics.
- Good understanding of trims such as zippers, buttons, labels, elastics, threads, tapes, and packaging materials.
- Knowledge of textile testing standards and restricted substances.
- Understanding of color management, fabric performance, and garment/toy construction.
- Familiarity with sustainability, environmental, and compliance standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and supplier management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and PLM/ERP systems.
