MEP Engineer
The position is available within the Engineering Department of our terminal operations at the Port of Colombo and will report directly to the Senior Deputy General Manager – Engineering Facilities.
The Role
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate installation of MEP systems, preventive maintenance, and rehabilitation works within the terminal.
- Manage and oversee HVAC, fire detection & protection, water supply, drainage, plumbing and sewage treatment plant systems.
- Monitor the performance and maintenance of EV charging stations, terminal utility systems, and associated facilities.
- Review MEP designs, drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders during project execution.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance plans, cost estimates, and project documentation.
- Support terminal expansion, modernization, and infrastructure development projects.
- Preparation and maintenance of maintenance records and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The Person
Qualifications, Experience and other Attributes
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in MEP systems, industrial facilities, ports, terminals, logistics facilities, or large infrastructure projects.
- Sound knowledge of HVAC systems including central AC system, VRV system, fire protection & detection systems, plumbing, and utility services.
- Experience in project management, contractor supervision, and maintenance planning.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office applications.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Membership in a recognized professional engineering institution will be added advantage.
