Senior Linux Server Administrator (Enterprise Systems & Database Platforms)
Job Profile
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Linux Server Administrator to join our ICT team. The selected candidate will play a key role in managing enterprise Linux servers and supporting a strategic database platform migration from AIX to Linux, particularly for Progress OpenEdge databases, as part of our long-term technology modernization initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain enterprise Linux servers (RHEL / CentOS / Oracle Linux / Ubuntu).
- Support and optimize database servers, with a focus on Progress OpenEdge environments.
- Plan and execute AIX to Linux migration activities, including performance validation and post-migration support.
- Perform OS-level tuning for database workloads (CPU, memory, I/O).
- Manage system security, patching, backups, and recovery processes.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning solutions.
- Automate routine administration tasks using shell scripting / Ansible.
- Work closely with application teams, DB teams, vendors, and auditors.
- Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or professional qualification in IT / Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux server administration in an enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS internals, filesystems (XFS/EXT4), LVM, networking, and systemd.
- Experience supporting database platforms on Linux (Progress OpenEdge, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
- Practical exposure to performance tuning and troubleshooting for high-availability systems.
- Experience with shell scripting; exposure to Ansible or automation tools is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of AIX environments will be an added advantage.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
