Assistant Merchandiser - Development
Position Objective
Optimize resources usage to the best advantage to meet sample deadlines & offer competitive prices. Getting involved with Garment costing / sourcing & developing fabrics, trims & embellishments on time and find innovative ways to ensure perfect ‘first time development samples’ are released.
Job Responsibilities
- Go through design packs with the Merchandiser, Technical team, and Product Manager, and send sample requests to the suppliers. Check fabric and trim availability within 24 hours of receipt of the design pack.
- Fabric ordering from fabric mills, trim ordering and follow-up, and keep updated on the internal and sample progress.
- Maintain style files with fabric swatches, wash standards, trims, and strike-offs.
- Ensure strike-offs are submitted to the UK and approvals obtained on time.
- Request costing information from factories, embellishment plants, fabric mills, and trims, and prepare cost sheets and go through them with the Development Merchandiser.
- Maintain core fabrics and trim qualities required for the season based on seasonal trends and previous records.
- Willingness to drive the development samples and costing to deliver the required product to the customer.
Position Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in the apparel industry.
- Background in sample development and costing knowledge is an added advantage
- Good command of the English language.
- Computer literate.
- Sound knowledge of apparel trim items.
- Outgoing personality with good leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong PC literacy and proven ability to manage daily activities using various systems such as MS Office and Gmail.
