Project Background
The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka seeks a Counsellor/Coordinator to join Happy Life Center. Happy Life was born out of a passion for empowering people with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the complexities of life. Our mission is to provide a safe, reliable, and informative space where individuals can explore their identity, build healthy relationships, and make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

Objectives
The Happy Life Center Counsellor/ Coordinator will oversee and manage a call center that provides critical information, counseling, and referrals related to Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) for people including key populations. This role requires a professional with strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills to ensure that callers receive accurate, supportive, and confidential assistance. The coordinator will also work closely with healthcare providers, NGOs, and government agencies to strengthen referral networks and improve service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Happy life Center Operations & Management
- Provide information to clients who call on the Happy life Centre
- Ensure adherence to confidentiality and data protection policies.
- Maintain records of calls, referrals, and feedback for quality improvement.
- Provide accurate information on SRH services, contraception, STIs, HIV/AIDS, and gender-based violence.
- Offer a safe and non-judgmental space for key populations, including LGBTQ+ individuals, sex workers, and people living with HIV.
- Respond to crisis calls and facilitate appropriate referrals for medical, legal, or psychological support.
- Stakeholder Coordination & Referral Network Development
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, NGOs, and government agencies to improve service accessibility.
- Update and manage a database of referral services, ensuring callers receive timely and relevant support.
Required Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a Higher National Diploma in Counselling from a recognized University/Higher Education Institute
- The Knowledge and skills to handle Sexual and reproductive health issues and work experience with Key populations of HIV/STI prevention will be an added qualification

- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- A genuine interest in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Community empowerment
- Good understanding of SRH, gender identity, and key population health concerns.
- Ability to manage crisis calls with empathy and professionalism.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Digital literacy and experience using call center software or telehealth platforms.
- The ability to manage cases in both Sinhala and English or all three languages.
