Indirect Purchasing Advisor
A reputed multinational manufacturing and exporting company
Makola, Sri Lanka
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end indirect procurement activities covering manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and project-related requirements.
- Source and procure MRO items, machinery spares, CAPEX requirements, maintenance services, utilities, facilities-related items, consumables, and other technical purchases.
- Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Projects, EHS, and Finance teams to understand technical specifications, priorities, budgets, and required delivery schedules.
- Manage RFQ/RFP processes, supplier assessments, commercial negotiations, purchase recommendations, and contract finalization.
- Build and maintain a strong and dependable supplier network while continuously monitoring cost, quality, delivery performance, service levels, and technical capability.
- Identify and implement cost-saving, cost-avoidance, value-engineering, and supplier-optimization initiatives while ensuring uninterrupted operations.
- Support procurement requirements related to plant expansions, machinery installations, engineering modifications, and other CAPEX projects.
- Closely monitor critical purchases and supplier performance to reduce the risk of production delays, equipment downtime, and supply disruptions.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including purchase orders, contracts, supplier records, and related information through SAP/ERP systems.
- Prepare and maintain procurement reports covering spend analysis, savings, supplier performance, lead times, and outstanding orders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or recognized professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of procurement experience in a relevant professional environment.
- Proven capability in supplier sourcing, commercial negotiation, contract management, cost evaluation, and supplier development.
- Sound understanding of manufacturing operations, technical specifications, and engineering-related purchasing requirements.
- Strong practical exposure to indirect procurement, MRO materials, engineering spares, CAPEX sourcing, maintenance services, and technical purchasing.
- Hands-on experience with SAP or another ERP-based procurement system will be considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical, commercial, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
