Technical Manager – Cable Manufacturing
Cable Solutions PLC is seeking an experienced and technically competent professional to join our team as Technical Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading technical operations, process improvement, product development, and technical problem-solving across our cable manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the technical functions of cable manufacturing, ensuring efficient and reliable production processes.
- Provide technical expertise for LV power cables, control cables, automotive/harness-related cables and other cable products manufactured by the company.
- Develop, review and optimize manufacturing processes including:
- Wire Drawing
- Stranding
- Insulation / Cabling
- Armouring
- Sheathing
- Printing and Marking
- Testing and Final Inspection
- Monitor and improve key technical parameters such as conductor resistance, insulation thickness, diameter, eccentricity, tensile strength and electrical performance.
- Investigate and resolve production defects, process deviations, quality issues and customer complaints using structured problem-solving techniques such as RCA, 8D, FMEA and CAPA.
- Lead new product development, product modification and process validation activities.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, manufacturing specifications, BOMs, process sheets and work instructions.
- Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, R&D, Maintenance, PPC and Procurement teams to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, productivity improvement, material reduction and cost reduction.
- Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable international cable standards, customer specifications and internal quality requirements.
- Conduct technical audits, customer audits and certification requirements.
- Evaluate and introduce suitable raw materials, machinery, tooling and technical technologies to improve product quality and performance.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to Engineers, Supervisors and support teams.
- Analyze production and quality data and prepare technical reports and improvement plans for management.
- Coordinate with suppliers and customers on technical matters when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electronic Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification or professional qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or Operations Management will be an added advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge of cable manufacturing processes and electrical cable technology.
- Knowledge of IEC, BIS, ASTM or other relevant cable standards is highly desirable.
- Good knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001 and preferably IATF 16949.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, RCA, FMEA, 8D and CAPA will be an advantage.
Experience
- 3–8 years of relevant experience, preferably within the cable manufacturing, wire manufacturing, electrical products or related manufacturing industry.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial/technical leadership position.
- Hands-on experience in cable production processes, technical troubleshooting and process improvement.
- Experience in new product development and product/process validation will be highly valued.
