Heritage Farm Vacancy: Broiler Farm Manager
We are seeking a competent, experienced and results-driven Farm Manager to take over overall responsibility for the management and performance of a large-scale commercial broiler farm.
This is a senior, hands-on management position with full responsibility for production performance, farm operations, labour management, planning, biosecurity, maintenance, record keeping and reporting to the Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Flock Performance
- Take full responsibility for overall broiler production performance and achievement of company targets.
- Closely monitor body weight, feed consumption, FCR, mortality, uniformity and other key indicators.
- Identify production problems early and implement corrective actions.
- Plan and coordinate thinning and final culling according to bird performance, capacity and market requirements.
- Maintain and update vaccination, medication and flock-health programs.
- Records, Planning & Reporting
- Maintain accurate up-to-date records for all farm inputs and outputs.
- Ensure proper recording of chick placements, feed, medication, vaccines and other inputs.
- Prepare timely production and performance reports for Directors.
- Labour Management & Recruitment
- Manage, supervise and motivate the farm workforce.
- Plan labour requirements and allocate duties efficiently.
- Ensure safety compliance and a healthy working environment.
- Develop and coach employees; promote good teamwork.
- Maintenance & Spare Parts
- Ensure all routine maintenance is carried out on time.
- Maintain stocks of critical spare parts and materials.
- Manage maintenance planning and ensure optimal operation of farm facilities.
We are looking for a manager who takes ownership and can run the farm as a complete operation, rather than merely supervise.
