The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) invites applications from dynamic, visionary, and technology-driven professionals for the position of Librarian. This is more than a library leadership role. It is an opportunity for you to shape an inspiring, technology-enabled learning ecosystem that supports teaching, research, innovation, and lifelong learning.
SLIIT Library’s main hub in Malabe covers nearly 2,000 sqm and features over 1,000 student learning spaces. There are several library centres located at partner institutes and centres. The library system offers a strong platform for academic excellence through extensive digital and print collections; access to leading international databases, e-journals, and research resources; advanced digital library systems and online access services; collaborative study zones and technology-enhanced learning spaces; support services that promote research excellence, information literacy, and digital scholarship; and introduction of innovative technologies that redefine the student learning experience.
THE POSITION
You will have the opportunity to:
- Lead our already established journey to make the library into a vibrant hub for learning and collaboration
- Enhance access to global knowledge resources through emerging technologies
- Lead and drive the integration of AI-enabled, data-driven, and digital learning tools
- Support a diverse community of students, academics, researchers, and industry partners
- Create future-ready learning spaces that encourage creativity, collaboration, and innovation
- Collaborate with our globally renowned academic partners such as the University of Edinburgh, the University of Queensland and others
- Plan and manage all resources in the library system and work closely with the senior management.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The successful candidate, based at the Malabe Campus, will play a pivotal leadership role in reimagining the Library Learning Commons as a smart learning environment. This is an opportunity for a forward-thinking library professional with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in relevant fields and a minimum of 10 years of experience in a well-established library to leave a lasting legacy by creating a distinctive learning space that empowers learners, enables research excellence, and supports the digital future of higher education.
