MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN
(Full Time, Permanent)
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for plant machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure reliable and uninterrupted operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults in plant equipment and machinery.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical systems including gearboxes, motors, pumps, conveyors, bearings, shafts, belts, chains, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and identify potential equipment failures, maintenance requirements, and improvement opportunities.
- Support breakdown maintenance activities and ensure mechanical faults are diagnosed and rectified efficiently to minimize production downtime.
- Perform alignment, fitting, assembly, dismantling, and replacement of mechanical components as required.
- Apply practical knowledge to improve equipment performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with Production and other relevant teams to ensure maintenance activities are carried out safely and with minimal disruption to operations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, breakdown reports, and documentation related to plant equipment and maintenance activities.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, maintenance standards, and company requirements while carrying out maintenance activities.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:
- NVQ Level 3 or above in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1+ years of industrial experience in plant maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or a similar technical role.
- Strong practical knowledge of industrial machinery and mechanical maintenance.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment and systems.
- Practical knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems will be an added advantage.
- Good understanding of preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance practices.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with Production, Engineering, and other internal teams.
