Colour Development Assistant Chemist
Location: Panadura, Sri Lanka

We are looking for a dynamic Colour Development Assistant Chemist to support colour matching, lab trials, and shade approvals, enhancing product accuracy and consistency across local and international markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and matching new paint colours per customer, market, and product requirements.
- Prepare lab-scale colour samples, bases, and colourant formulations using spectrophotometers and colour measurement systems.
- Perform colour evaluations (L*a*b*, ΔE, tinting strength, mass tone, reduction tone) and assist with colour corrections.
- Maintain colour standards, master panels, formulas, and databases; conduct stability, compatibility, and performance testing.
- Troubleshoot colour-related complaints (mismatch, hue/strength variation, settling, separation, dispensing issues).
- Collaborate with R&D, QC, Production, Technical Service, and Sales/Marketing teams while following SOPs, safety, and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Paint Technology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in paint, coatings, colour development, tinting systems, or a related laboratory environment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of colour science and paint formulation.
- Familiarity with spectrophotometers and colour measurement systems is an advantage.
