Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled Geotechnical Design Engineer to join our project team. You will be responsible for executing robust geotechnical designs, optimising engineering schemes, and ensuring technical compliance. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in interfacing with Sri Lankan authorities, consultants, and site teams to drive the project forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Design: Prepare comprehensive design calculations and construction drawings for highway subgrades, soft ground treatment (e.g., marshy areas), slopes, retaining walls, and foundation pits, adhering strictly to contract documents and applicable design codes (BS / Eurocodes / local standards).
- Scheme Optimization: Independently complete geotechnical design documents and engineering scheme comparisons; propose cost-effective and structurally sound optimization suggestions to mitigate geological risks.
- Stakeholder Interface: Coordinate and communicate effectively with Sri Lankan government departments (such as RDA) and the Project Consultant/Supervision.
- Collaboration & Review: Actively participate in design reviews, technical clarification meetings, and seminars organized by the Employer, Consultant, and Project Management Unit (PMU).
- Standardization: Contribute to the compilation, technical audit, and seminar reviews of the Geotechnical Design Standard AIP (Agreement in Principle), and manage the full-process resolution of design discrepancies.
Position Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in geotechnical investigation, highway subgrade engineering, or roadway geotechnical design, preferably in road/highway projects.
- Software Mastery: Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plaxis, and other specialized geotechnical design and numerical analysis tools.
- Experience with RDA road/highway projects will be an added advantage.
