The Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust (NTT) is a Sri Lankan philanthropic organization that provides grants to and strengthens the capacity of civil society organizations with the vision 'to establish and protect a just, equitable and peaceful society'. Since its inception in 2000, the NTT has supported initiatives throughout the country and on a wide array of issues related to social justice and peacebuilding through grant making, and capacity and discourse building.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing human resource policies that enable the NTT to effectively fulfill its mandate.
  • Manage the recruitment process of the NTT staff and external consultants including drafting TORS, shortlisting, interviewing, compiling final interview summary and conducting reference checks. Prepare agreements for staff, consultants, and interns, and assist them in understanding the specific terms and conditions.
  • Prepare monthly payroll and related statutory payments.
  • Assist the MFA in timely and efficient premises management, procurement of goods and service agreements, server/IT maintenance, all insurance agreements, lease and licensing agreements and related payments and receivable as required.
  • Assist in the reviewing of quotations/specifications for the procurement of office supplies and service agreement for best value and timely delivery - in line with budgetary requirements and the needs of the Trust.
  • Manage official travel and logistical arrangements for field visits and events.

Qualifications; Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related professional qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Human Resource and Admin Officer, Human Resource and Admin Assistant or a similar role preferably in the non-profit/development sector. Proficiency in MS Windows with MS Office, mainly in word processing, spreadsheet software including proficiency in e-mail and internet usage.

  • Possess analytical and problem-solving skills, a high level of integrity and professionalism. Respect cultural diversity and be culturally sensitive in interacting with people and organizations from diverse backgrounds and with diverse views and opinions.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, and good communication skills in Tamil and/or Sinhala.
  • A team player who prioritizes building strong relationships and works well in collaborative environments.
