Automobile Workshop Service Advisor serves as the liaison between customers and service technicians, ensuring effective communication and efficient service delivery. The role requires a blend of technical knowledge, customer service skills, and administrative capabilities.

Educational Requirements:

  • Certifications:
    • A certification in vehicle diagnostics, automotive maintenance, or a related field
    • Completed course from a recognized institution such as NAITA, AETI, City & Guilds, or HNDE
  • Vocational Training:
    • Vocational training from reputed institutions, such as NAITA (National Apprenticeship and Industrial Training Authority), or GTTI (Government Technical Training Institutes)

Experience Requirements:

  • Relevant Work Experience: A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in the automobile industry, particularly in service advisory roles, is often required. This experience helps in understanding customer needs and technical aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of automotive technology is essential to effectively communicate with technicians and customers.
  • Customer Service Skills: Proficiency in customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills is crucial for interacting with clients and addressing their concerns effectively.
  • Management and Organizational Skills: The ability to handle multiple tasks, manage service schedules, and coordinate between customers and technicians is a key requirement.
  • Driving License: A valid vehicle driving license is often required, facilitating the drives and understanding of vehicle operations.
  • Computer Literacy: Familiarity with industry-specific software and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages are important for managing service records and communication.

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Proficiency in Office Software: Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and service management software.
  • Sales Skills: Ability to upsell service packages, repairs, and parts when necessary.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage appointments, service bookings, and customer follow-ups.

Additional Requirements:

  • Age Limit: Candidates are typically expected to be between 22 to 45 years of age, though this can vary by employer.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English and Sinhala languages is often required to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele.
