About the Role
At WebLife, we’re seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to lead our accounting operations with a special focus on multi-state sales tax compliance. As a 16 years old e-commerce company with $250M+ in all time revenue generated. As the largest distributor of mailboxes across the U.S., we need a technical expert who can manage complex accounting tasks while ensuring compliance across multiple state jurisdictions. This role combines strategic financial leadership with specialized US tax expertise, operating in our flexible work-from-home environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead accounting projects, systems, and complex technical accounting matters
- Manage month-end close processes and financial statement preparation
- Oversee multi-state sales tax filings and ensure timely submissions
- Monitor and implement regulatory changes across different state jurisdictions
- Provide technical guidance on GAAP compliance and tax regulations
- Create and maintain SOPs for accounting processes and tax filings
- Support Controller and Accounting Manager in strategic initiatives
- Identify and implement tax filing efficiencies
- Streamline reconciliation processes and internal controls
- Develop and mentor junior accounting team members
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with 3 years focusing on multi-state sales tax compliance
- Demonstrable expertise in multi-state sales tax regulations and compliance
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Strong experience with accounting software (Xero) and tax filing systems (Avalara)
- Proven track record of process improvement and team leadership
- Excellence in general ledger management and reconciliation
- Experience with e-commerce accounting preferred
