Position: Deputy Head of Information Technology
Location: Colombo (Single-campus operation)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent, One year probation.
The Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), the country’s premier institution dedicated to banking and finance education, is seeking a results-driven and strategically minded IT professional to lead software development and digital transformation initiatives within the institution’s growing technology landscape.
This is a managerial-level role ideal for a technically proficient leader who can bridge software engineering and IT governance, while ensuring the seamless functioning and evolution of IBSL’s digital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and enhancement of digital platforms and institutional applications.
- Oversee IBSL’s core system operations such as Student Management System, Examination System, Finance ERP, and Library Automation.
- Manage and monitor cloud-based services and infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
- Drive process automation and implement AI-driven enhancements.
- Supervise vendor engagements, system implementations, and procurement activities.
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of IT governance frameworks, including policies, SOPs, compliance standards, and documentation.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance to the IT team while facilitating user training, issue resolution, and system onboarding for internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a key contributor to senior management on IT strategy and digital innovation to ensure alignment with IBSL’s institutional objectives.
Candidate Profile
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any IT related discipline WITH Minimum 7 years of work experience OR
- A Bachelor’s Degree with Postgraduate Degree (Master) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any IT related discipline WITH Minimum 5 years of work experience
- Capacity within IT operations, application development, or digital transformation projects.
- A Master’s Degree (MSc, MBA) OR professional certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or CISSP will be an added advantage.
- Exposure to higher education or university related digital systems will be an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder coordination capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage software development teams and oversee cross-functional digital initiatives.
- Proficiency in modern AI Tools, Data Visualization, web-based architecture, database systems, APIs, cloud deployment, and system security.
