Agronomist
We are a leading group of companies in Sri Lanka in the field of coir substrates. We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Agronomist with a strong background in hydroponics to join our dynamic team. As an Agronomist, you will play a crucial role in optimizing plant growth, yield, and quality within our hydroponic systems. Your expertise will contribute to the advancement of our sustainable farming practices.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in hydroponic systems design, operation, and troubleshooting in CEA.
- Strong understanding of plant physiology, nutrient management, and environmental controls.
- Proficient in data analysis and using software tools for crop monitoring.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings.
- Overseas experience would be an added advantage.
Duties and responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage hydroponic systems for various crops, ensuring optimal growth conditions and resource efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze plant health, nutrient levels, and environmental factors to make data-driven decisions for crop management.
- Develop and implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to minimize pest and disease issues.
- Collaborate with the research and development team to test new hydroponic technologies and techniques.
- Train and educate team members on hydroponic best practices and protocols.
- Collect and maintain accurate records of crop performance, growth cycles, and experiment results.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in hydroponics and agronomy.
