Fashion Designer
Duties & Responsibilities
- Research current market trends, colors, and materials for seasonal design inspiration.
- Develop concepts, mood boards, and color stories for upcoming ranges.
- Create flat sketches and detailed technical drawings for design approval and sampling.
- Work with the product development team to create prototypes and review samples for fit and construction.
- Collaborate with merchandisers, pattern makers, and suppliers for efficient execution of designs.
- Prepare accurate tech packs for production and liaise with manufacturers.
- Ensure all designs are aligned with cost, timelines, and production feasibility.
Skills
- Strong illustration and design concept development skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD tools.
- Creative mindset with an eye for detail, color, and proportion.
- Good understanding of kidswear and ladies specific needs: comfort, safety, age-appropriateness.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to balance creativity with commercial viability.
- Time management skills and using design AI tools to meet multiple deadlines.
Requirements
- Degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in apparel design, preferably in kidswear/loungewear.
- Solid knowledge of textiles, garment construction, and pattern-making.
- Experience in preparing tech packs and working with production teams.
- Understanding of fashion retail environment and customer preferences.
- A strong portfolio showcasing relevant design work and creativity.
