ACCOUNTANT (MATARA)
As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing all accounting operations, including revenue collection, reconciliation, inventory management, and statutory compliance. This role demands proficiency in accounting software and a strong understanding of financial reporting, tax regulations, and internal controls.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee revenue collection processes, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation and entry in accounting software (Xero or QuickBooks), and monitor daily sales, cash flow, and revenue-related entries to maintain financial accuracy.
- Managing supplier invoice processing and payments, overseeing petty cash transactions, and ensuring the accuracy of month-end financial reporting.
- Ensure the timely preparation, accuracy, and completeness of financial statements and management reports independently according to the IRFS standards.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting standards and apply them effectively in financial reporting.
- Collaborate with the relevant teams to identify variances and provide actionable insights for decision-making to the management.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to improve financial procedures and strengthen internal controls for compliance and efficiency.
- Demonstrate expertise in tax regulations, including APIT, WHT, VAT, and SSCL, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring alignment with company policies and industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with an international entrepreneur managing diverse business interests.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Fully qualified in AAT or partly qualified in CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA, or any other equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 4 years of industry experience is required. Experience in the hotel industry will be an added advantage.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to multitask and maintain attention to detail.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision with all financial discipline.
- Experience with Xero or QuickBooks will be an added advantage.
