Executive Chef/Sous Chef

Closenberg is an iconic hotel built in 1860 by a British Captain. It offers 18 rooms, one main restaurant, and an infinity pool bar. Closenberg invites its guests to experience a unique story steeped in history and heritage.

We are seeking a Executive Chef to join our dedicated team and ensure smooth hotel operations.

Key Aspects and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day functionality.
  • Design and develop creative, seasonal menus aligned with the restaurant’s concept and customer preferences.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a motivated and high-performing team.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, consistency, and taste.
  • Control food and labor costs, manage inventory, and ensure cost-effective purchasing and waste reduction.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house management to deliver a seamless dining experience.
  • Conduct regular tastings and quality checks to maintain culinary standards.
  • Manage supplier relationships, place orders, and track stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Monitor kitchen performance and implement systems to improve workflow and productivity.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a sous, executive or head chef.
  • Strong leadership and kitchen management skills.
  • Creative menu development with cost control awareness.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to upholding Closenberg's standards of excellence and hospitality.
