Executive Chef/Sous Chef
Closenberg is an iconic hotel built in 1860 by a British Captain. It offers 18 rooms, one main restaurant, and an infinity pool bar. Closenberg invites its guests to experience a unique story steeped in history and heritage.
We are seeking a Executive Chef to join our dedicated team and ensure smooth hotel operations.
Key Aspects and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day functionality.
- Design and develop creative, seasonal menus aligned with the restaurant’s concept and customer preferences.
- Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a motivated and high-performing team.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, consistency, and taste.
- Control food and labor costs, manage inventory, and ensure cost-effective purchasing and waste reduction.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations at all times.
- Collaborate with front-of-house management to deliver a seamless dining experience.
- Conduct regular tastings and quality checks to maintain culinary standards.
- Manage supplier relationships, place orders, and track stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Monitor kitchen performance and implement systems to improve workflow and productivity.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a sous, executive or head chef.
- Strong leadership and kitchen management skills.
- Creative menu development with cost control awareness.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to upholding Closenberg's standards of excellence and hospitality.
