Accountant

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts and ensure timely submission of financial reports to senior management.
  • Coordinate preparation of annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Handle day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Liaise with external and internal auditors, ensuring all audit requirements are met and audit queries are responded to promptly.
  • Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions, including handling payments, reconciliations, and other banking transactions.
  • Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with taxation, statutory, and regulatory requirements, including timely filing and remittances.
  • Generate ad hoc financial reports and analyses as required by management.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of internal controls and financial policies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka OR Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognised university.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and work with financial data effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software packages (knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, PRONTO, and Odoo is an advantage).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Actively engaged in continuous professional development.
