The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka (FPA Sri Lanka), the pioneer in Family Planning and Reproductive Health Education, is an accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) in the United Kingdom.

Manager – Monaragala Suwa Sewa Centre

The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka (FPA Sri Lanka) is the pioneer institution to initiate and establish a space for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services in the country. While its’ aim is to develop components related to health and wellbeing, FPA Sri Lanka also molds the quality of peoples’ lives. Being in existence for 70 years, FPA Sri Lanka has made vast strides in every area of family health including family planning. FPA Sri Lanka continues to reach out to where services are needed most and addresses sexual and reproductive health related issues through political, legal, social, cultural and economic avenues while also focusing on a rights-based and gender sensitive framework to provide its services to all men and women in Sri Lanka, maintaining highest level of confidentiality at all times. FPASL is an accredited member association of the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

The Outreach Unit of the Family Planning Association is the department that creates accessibility to essential SRH and family planning services for underserved, marginalized, and rural communities reaching the untouched. Through its seven Service Delivery Points in Ampara, Batticaloa, Koggala, Kilinochchi, Nuwara Eliya, Puttalam, Seethawaka and Wathupitiwala, the Outreach Unit of FPA Sri Lanka ensures that SRH and Family Planning needs are fulfilled for vulnerable populations through various modalities of services. As a part of its plan of expansion, FPASL will be establishing a new Suwa Sewa Centre in the Monaragala District.

For this reason, Outreach Unit is currently seeking a committed, enthusiastic young individual for the position of Manager. The Manager will be based at the Suwa Sewa Centre in Monaragala.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly report to the Assistant Director of the Outreach Department.
  • Overlooking the implementation of all projects and programmes as outlined in the annual program and budget and reach the set project targets for the Monaragala Suwa Sewa Centre.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Programme Assistant of the Monaragala Suwa Sewa Centre in the implementation of programmes and activities under the center.
  • Make arrangements to order and receive drugs, medication, medical supplies, contraceptives, stationery, and other related materials required for the Monaragala Service Delivery Point in a timely manner.
  • Arranging field-level supervision visits from the Monaragala Centre upon requests of the Director of Outreach and report to the Director of Outreach.
  • Formulating and maintaining working relationships and networks with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders in the Monaragala District meetings and activities.
  • Organize monthly Progress Review Meetings with the staff of the Suwa Sewa Centre.
  • Maintaining project and programme documentation relevant to the Monaragala Suwa Sewa Centre.
  • Timely recording and reporting of the center-level activities.
  • Overlooking the recording, reporting and maintenance of stocks for drugs, medications, medical supplies, and contraceptives of the center.
  • Support maintaining all finance-related documentation pertaining to all activities under the center.
  • Maintain SDP level inventory.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of the Monaragala Suwa Sewa Centre Premises.
  • Close relationship with the Head office unit staff.
  • Any other duties assigned by the director/assistant director, ORU.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences is preferred.
  • Knowledge in Sexual and Reproductive Health is essential.
  • Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience in the NGO and Development sector.
  • Proven field level experience and experience in community-level engagements.
  • Language competency: Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English and Sinhala. Tamil language competency is an added advantage.
  • IT Competency: MS Office package.
  • Residence in the Monaragala District.
  • Contract period: 1 year (Renewable).
