About the Role
At WebLife, we're seeking an experienced Magento 2 Engineer to join our e-commerce technology team. As a 16-year pioneering force in e-commerce and the largest distributor of mailboxes across the U.S. with over $250M in all-time revenue, we need a skilled Magento specialist who can optimize and enhance our e-commerce platforms. This role combines technical expertise with business understanding, operating in our flexible work-from-home environment while supporting our global e-commerce operations from our WebLife Labs division in Sri Lanka.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Magento 2 e-commerce stores with a focus on performance, security, and scalability.
- Implement custom Magento modules, extensions, and integrations to meet specific business requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within the Magento environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features, product pages, and checkout enhancements.
- Optimize website speed, responsiveness, and SEO performance to enhance user experience.
- Perform regular site maintenance, updates, and security patches to ensure platform reliability.
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and shipping solutions within the Magento ecosystem.
- Stay updated with Magento best practices, updates, and e-commerce trends.
Requirements
- 5+ years of total experience with Magento development in professional environments.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with US, UK, European, or Australian e-commerce markets.
- Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and XML.
- Proficiency in Magento 2 module development and customization.
- Experience with Magento 2 themes and frontend technologies (LESS/SASS, KnockoutJS, RequireJS).
- Experience with Magento 2 architecture, themes, modules, and the EAV database model.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and development workflows.
- Knowledge of RESTful and SOAP API integration within Magento 2.
- Understanding of e-commerce business processes and customer experience optimization.
