CNC Programmer & Planner

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in CNC programming and production planning within a precision machining or manufacturing environment.
  • NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology, or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, CAD models, and machining blueprints.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, SolidCAM, or Fusion 360.
  • Familiarity with G-code/M-code and the ability to manually edit programs when required.
  • Solid understanding of materials, cutting tools, machining tolerances, and process flows.
  • Previous experience with 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling and CNC turning machines will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • CNC Programming & Setup – Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, select appropriate tools and parameters, and prepare setup sheets to ensure efficient and accurate machining.
  • Production Planning – Plan and schedule machining jobs based on priorities, machine capacity, and delivery deadlines, coordinating with the production team for smooth workflow.
  • Process Improvement & Quality Control – Analyze and improve machining processes to reduce cycle times and enhance quality; work closely with the QA team to ensure components meet specifications.
  • Documentation & Maintenance – Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, setup instructions, tool usage, and revisions while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
