ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing day-to-day operational functions to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the company. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role plays a key part in ensuring regulatory compliance, analyzing and improving internal processes, and supporting senior management in the execution of strategic and operational plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage day-to-day operations related to finance, trading, settlements, and client services, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance by coordinating with CSE, CDS, and SEC, and maintaining up-to-date records and reconciliations
  • Handle client onboarding, KYC processes, and ongoing documentation in line with regulatory standards and risk mitigation practices
  • Oversee the preparation of reports for senior management and regulatory submissions, while proactively identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvements
  • Support senior management in implementing operational strategies and act as a key liaison for clients, custodians, and internal teams
  • Oversee Human Resources and Information Technology functions to align people and systems with operational goals, ensuring effective resource management and tech-driven efficiency

REQUIREMENTS

  • MBA with a Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related similar professional qualification
  • Over 5 years of overall professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years in operations within a stock brokering firm or financial institution, with in-depth knowledge of CSE systems, CDS operations, and SEC compliance
  • Proven ability to analyze, improve, and execute operational processes with strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, attention to detail, and effective communication skills in English and Sinhala
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
