RISK OFFICER (SENIOR MANAGER GRADE)

Location - Head Office

As the Risk Officer, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating various risks across the organization, ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks and internal policies. Your work will contribute directly to strengthening the company’s risk culture, ensuring compliance with CBSL directives, and supporting the company’s overall decision-making process. You will report directly to the Board Integrated Risk Management Committee (BIRMC) and administratively to the CEO. This role will pave the way for a mutually beneficial career within the organization.

The Job Role

  • Identify current and potential risk areas across business activities, including credit, market, liquidity, strategic, operational, and IT risks.
  • Take overall responsibility for implementing the company's risk management functions in line with CBSL directives and internal policies.
  • Develop, implement, and periodically review risk-related policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Establish frameworks for identifying, assessing, measuring, and reporting key risks.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative risk analysis, including stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Participate in major decision-making processes including capital management, liquidity planning, and new product/service development, offering risk-based recommendations.
  • Actively participate in ALCO (Asset and Liability Committee) meetings as part of managing market and liquidity risks.
  • Attend Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) drills and suggest risk mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate and support the BIRMC by preparing and submitting relevant risk documentation for regular reviews.
  • Monitor credit exposures, and recommend mitigating actions where necessary.
  • Continuously update knowledge on emerging risk trends and best practices in the industry.

Experience / Qualifications / Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a risk-related role, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory guidelines and risk frameworks, especially those issued by the CBSL.
  • Proven ability to conduct detailed risk assessments and stress testing.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • High level of integrity and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and risk management tools/software.
