We cater to a diverse portfolio of clients from the US, UK, Australia, Middle East, and Sri Lanka.
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented accountant to join our growing team supporting a UK-based accountancy practice. This role involves managing the day-to-day accounting needs of multiple clients across various industries. You will work extensively with Xero, Sage, Excel, and Dext, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, VAT compliance, and effective communication with clients.
The Role
- Maintain accurate daily financial records using Xero and Sage, including sales and purchase ledgers through Dext.
- Process and reconcile bank, credit card, and petty cash transactions to ensure financial accuracy.
- Record payroll journals from internal systems or external providers and post month-end entries such as accruals and prepayments.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including control and intercompany accounts.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in compliance with HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
- Ensure correct VAT treatment for all transactions and maintain proper audit trails for compliance.
- Produce monthly and quarterly management reports including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow forecasts, and budget variance reports.
- Collaborate with teams and clients on budgeting, forecasting, and delivering financial performance insights.
The Person
- Part-qualified CA, ACCA, or CIMA.
- 2–3 years’ experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, ideally within a UK accountancy firm.
- Proficient in Xero, Sage, Dext, and advanced Excel.
- Solid understanding of UK VAT rules and general compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly.
- Knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105 is an added advantage.
