EXECUTIVE - FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

We are 'Vidullanka PLC', a pioneer in the renewable energy industry in Sri Lanka. A champion for greener and cleaner ways to conduct our business, we are engaged in the development of Hydro-power, Biomass, Solar and other forms of renewable energy sources for a sustainable planet. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have some experience in the plantation industry, particularly in managing financial records, budgeting, cost analysis, and compliance specific to agricultural and plantation operations. They will play a vital role in supporting the financial health of our operations by ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, optimizing cost management, and providing valuable insights to drive decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records following the local compliance and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the finance and operations teams to prepare, monitor, and analyze annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and cash flow projections specific to plantation operations.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses and manage cost controls, tracking variable and fixed costs related to plantation activities.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory records, track physical assets, and ensure appropriate valuation and reporting of plantation assets.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant industry regulations, tax obligations, and financial reporting standards (including VAT, import/export duties, and plantation-specific taxes).
  • Establish and maintain internal controls within the plantation financial processes to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with company policies.
  • Support the strategic planning process by providing financial insights, identifying trends, and recommending improvements in resource utilization.
  • Act as the point of contact between finance and plantation management, working closely to provide accurate financial insights and reports that support operational decision-making.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • ACCA, CIMA, or CA (part or fully qualified) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in the plantation or agricultural industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (MS Dynamics will be an added advantage).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including experience with complex formulas, data analysis, and pivot tables.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific accounting standards, VAT, and tax regulations related to plantations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in cost analysis, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with non-finance staff.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, especially in financial documentation and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.
