Garment Technologist

THE ROLE
Our Client City Goddess is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Garment Technologist to support their design and development teams by creating precise, production-ready documentation. You will be responsible for developing clear and accurate tech packs, spec sheets, and technical drawings that communicate every aspect of the garment to suppliers and manufacturers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create detailed tech packs for womenswear, ensuring every element—from design specifications to trims and finishings—is clearly documented for production
- Produce accurate spec sheets including measurements, graded size charts, stitching details, garment construction notes, and trim placements
- Illustrate clean and precise technical flat sketches using Adobe Illustrator that reflect all style details
- Create well-labelled technical drawings from design sketches received from the designers, to be passed on to the pattern maker
- Maintain and update product details, QA notes, and any finish/design changes on internal systems
- Manage critical path timelines, ensuring deadlines are met and each style reflects the correct status and details on the internal system at all times
- Identify potential garment construction or grading issues through thorough review of designs and provide clear recommendations
- Prepare image-supported fit and construction comment sheets to guide suppliers clearly and professionally
- Create well labelled technical drawing for new designs from sketches received from designers for the style to be given to the pattern maker
- Support the design and buying teams with trend and product research to assist in developing collections based on current trends and best-sellers
- Ensure all technical documentation is organised, consistent, and suitable for global manufacturer use
WHAT YOU BRING
- Proven experience as a Garment Technologist, preferably in womenswear
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, sizing, grading, and finishing
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, with the ability to produce detailed tech drawings
- Highly organised and methodical in documentation, file naming, and version control
- Eye for technical detail and accuracy, with a proactive approach to spotting and solving issues
- Strong communication skills—able to express garment specs and fit issues clearly with supporting visuals
- Competent in Excel and PowerPoint for spec documentation and presentations
- A positive, solutions-oriented attitude with the ability to manage deadlines across multiple projects
- Research skills and commercial awareness to contribute to trend-led product development
