MANAGER / ASSISTANT MANAGER PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Reporting to Country manager and Group PD Manager, the PD Manager oversees the setup and daily operation for PD center in Sri Lanka. The PD Manager leads functional teams in Sri Lanka to complete all necessary tasks and milestones in achieving the group expectations, including:

Key responsibility:

  • Analysing consumer voices to envision and present idea prototypes to the customer, transfigure the idea according to the customer feedback.
  • Review the concepts and development ideas for new products while considering the correct material usage, optimum utilization of material and minimize the material waste.
  • Convert presented ideas into commercially viable products, execute risk analysis for the entire process so that it will run smooth in the production level.
  • Communicating technical information with internal and external customers to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Development, improvement and testing of material including fabric, polyurethane foam, glue and other chemical accessories.
  • Provide accurate & sufficient information at the design stage to prepare designs of molding machines and components for thermal molding process.
  • Determining optimum inventory levels for product development and sample production. And allow optimum utilization of machinery, materials and resources.
  • Giving technical instructions to senior technicians, machine operators and work force handling.
  • Material testing and evaluation of product quality ensuring the use of correct meat specification.
  • Project handling, making consumption reports, modifications to optimize the operations in product development area.
  • Design the pilot plant to verify entire manufacturing process. Plan and implement projects to conduct research & experiments for further improvements & participate in reviews, discussions, impact assessments and controlling activities.
  • Data capturing, analysis, calculation and implementation of the processes within the budgeted cost & supervise and train technicians, operators, mechanics and junior engineers.

Education / Skill and Experience Requirements

  • BA or above in Industrial Design, Engineering or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in R&D, experience in similar and related positions & Familiar with intimate industry is preferred
  • Experience in the full cycle from design, and prototypes to manufacturing is an advantage
  • Good understanding and proficiency in prototype and design software and platforms, such as CAD, 3DMAX, and Autodesk
  • Strong problem-solving skills and good interpersonal communication skills & Analytical and practical skills, Can-do attitude
