The Role
As a Senior Platforms & Security Engineer, you’ll oversee the configuration, security, and operational integrity of our platforms. You’ll play a pivotal role in defining security and operational processes, responding to incidents, and technically mentoring our Support team. This position is central to deploying, maintaining, and optimizing our cloud infrastructure and DevOps toolchains, our corporate platforms ensuring they are secure, reliable, and self-service ready for the broader business.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor platform performance, security, and compliance, responding to alerts and proactively managing potential vulnerabilities.
- Manage our cloud infrastructure (AWS, deployed and managed using terraform).
- Manage and optimize corporate services platforms (GSuite, Slack, Atlassian suite, Cloudflare [public DNS, tunnels] etc) such as identity and access management, email systems, collaboration tools, remote access solutions, and device management, ensuring user friendly, secure operations and alignment with business needs.
- Implementing secure CI/CD with automated testing and vulnerability scanning.
- Act as the first point of escalation for platform-related issues, addressing concerns around infrastructure, DevOps processes, and security.
- Respond to security incidents, taking appropriate steps to mitigate risks and conducting thorough post-incident analysis.
- Mentor Platforms & Security Analysts, providing technical guidance and helping to build their operational skill set.
- Develop and update technical documentation to ensure self-service capabilities for internal users.
- Overseeing MDM for company devices.
- Engage with internal (dev/feature teams) and external (vendors) stakeholders to align platform capabilities with business needs and ensure smooth operations across development and deployment cycles.
- Incident response and platform optimization.
- Constantly enhancing and optimizing our platform security, run cost, ci/cd, automation, development activities.
- Providing 2nd/3rd line support to the whole company (we are essentially an internal IT Helpdesk/tech/security advisory to the rest of the company).
What You Bring
- Strong technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, service integration and automation tools.
- Extensive experience in securing cloud environments and applications, corporate services, incident response, and a proactive approach to vulnerability management.
- Experience working in process driven environments with ability to identify and uplift gaps in ways of working.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot platform issues independently.
- Ability to define, document, and implement security and operational processes that enhance platform reliability and security.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams, contribute to technical documentation and play an advisory role in the platforms & security spaces.
- A mindset focused on scalability, efficiency, and creating seamless, self-service-ready environments.
- A willingness to mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Who You’ll Work With
You’ll report to the Director of Platforms & Security and collaborate closely with Platform & Security Support Analyst, development squads and feature squads, and other internal customer support teams. Additionally, you'll engage with external vendors as needed to ensure the robustness and security of the platform infrastructure, while mentoring the Platform & Security Support team members to build their technical competencies and our team’s operational capabilities.
