MECHANICAL ENGINEER - QUARTZ STONE MANUFACTURING

We’re looking for a multi-skilled Mechanical Engineer with expertise across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, hydraulic, and thermal heating systems to join our team.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead the operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of:
- Mechanical systems (conveyors, mixers, vibrating presses)
- Electrical panels and motors (3-phase and control systems)
- Compressed air systems and pneumatic lines
- Hydraulic systems in presses and handling units
- Thermal oil–based heating systems and chillers
- Plumbing and utility management (cooling, drainage, water pumps)
- Design, review, and improve mechanical and utility systems for enhanced efficiency and durability
- Maintain detailed documentation of breakdowns, repairs, and preventive maintenance routines
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for parts, upgrades, and installations
- Provide technical reports and collaborate with production and quality teams to minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with local safety, energy, and industrial standards
Skills and Qualifications
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar manufacturing/industrial environment
- Hands-on knowledge in installation, diagnostics, and maintenance of the above systems
- Familiarity with AutoCAD/technical drawing, CMMS tools, and maintenance planning
- Excellent communication and reporting skills – Sinhala and English
- A solution-oriented mindset and the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
- Experience in quartz, tile, cement, or ceramics and knowledge of lean manufacturing with exposure to international machinery would be an added advantage
