DIRECTOR FINANCE

Responsibilities

  • Proactive, meticulous and able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Good influencing and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and presentation skills, ability to work with tight deadlines and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Preparing of Board Papers independently when requires for the Board Meetings.
  • Create the annual operating budget for the property and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities for department heads.
  • Analyze ROI for capital projects prior to committing funds and, upon completion, determine if anticipated results were achieved.
  • Maximize cash flow performance of the hotel through controls on inventory (avoid excessive supply), credit and collection, disbursements, deposits and remittances.
  • Prepares monthly position of actual results against budget, analyze results and recommend to Senior Leadership team required to meet budget.
  • Prepares outlooks for forthcoming months and forecasts for the remainder of the year.
  • Assists and provides financial guidance in the formulation and implementation of Strategic Plan, Budget and KPI's.
  • Use financial analysis, data trends and market information to anticipate needs, identify operating/ financial issues, and recommend actions to maximize financial return.
  • Obtains appropriate legal counsel regarding the business practices of the hotel and maintains an awareness of local laws, rules and regulations.
  • Evaluate existing internal control measures that apply to accounting procedures and computer systems as per Policies and Procedures.
  • Implement and maintain acceptable accounting practices as required by company policy and procedures.
  • Ensure financial control procedures and systems are ethical and legal.
  • Employ adequate internal control procedures to ensure correct authorization for payment procedures.
  • Develop your team and improve their performance through coaching and feedback and create performance and development goals - recognize good performance.
  • Train your team to make sure they deliver with compliance, to our standards and have the tools they need to work efficiently.
  • Identifies training needs, develops formal training plans and conducts training sessions for accounting and operational staff in coordination with other departments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Internationally recognized professional accountancy qualification (CA, CIMA, ACCA or CFA) Or 15 yrs experience in a top management position in the Finance division in a Government / Corporate / Mercantile Sector with bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration.
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in a similar capacity and experience in the hospitality industry will be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with GoSL financial regulations/procurement guidelines.
  • Communicate with Chairman and the top management and maintains good relations and attends liaison meetings / Board meetings when required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Creativity and an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
