Who We Are
SLAASMB is the state regulatory and supervisory authority responsible for monitoring compliance with accounting and auditing standards by Specified Business Enterprises (SBEs) and their auditors in terms of the provisions of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Act No. 15 of 1995. It is under the supervisory purview of the Ministry of Finance and funded by public funds. SLAASMB at present, is undergoing legal reforms to widen its scope and coverage to promote application and practice of accounting and auditing standards in the public interest.
An opportunity has arisen at the SLAASMB for a dynamic, proactive and result-oriented accounting professional of high standing to head its operations under the guidance and supervision of the Board.

Role Summary
The Director General is accountable and responsible for all activities including administrative and financial affairs of SLAASMB. Under the general direction and control of the Board, the Director General is required to exercise, perform and discharge powers, functions and duties delegated by the Board and provide leadership and encouragement to the staff of SLAASMB including to its team of highly skilled, multi-disciplinary Chartered Accountants, engaged in enhancing reliability in financial reporting.
Qualifications
External Candidates
- A Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).
- Minimum of 17 years of experience after obtaining Associate Membership of the CA Sri Lanka out of which 5 years of experience as a CFO in the Corporate Sector and/or a Partner/Director in an Audit Firm and/or a high ranking officer in a Regulatory/Supervisory/Standards-setting institution, with a proven ability to lead and direct multi-disciplinary teams.
- The candidate should have a passion for technical advancement in accounting and auditing standards.
- Exposure to reviewing financial statements and audits, locally and/or abroad will be an added advantage.
Internal Candidates
- Internal candidates are required to have a minimum of five (5) years satisfactory service as a Deputy Director General with a proven ability to lead and direct multi-disciplinary teams.
Age
Should be not less than 40 years and not more than 55 years. The upper age limit will not apply to the internal candidates.
