Assistant Manager - Maintenance & Repair (Wellsara)

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage equipment maintenance including breakdown repairs, preventive and predictive repairs to ensure optimal machine availability, timely spare parts procurement from local / overseas, to achieve minimal downtime.
  • Manage premises maintenance / depot infrastructure including yard surfaces, office building, power distribution, drainage etc.
  • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies while ensuring compliance with safety, calibration, and quality standards including ISO 9001:2015.
  • Manage inventory and procurement activities by monitoring re-order levels, supplier performance, and reducing stock holding costs.
  • Maintain safety and environmental standards by enforcing EHS policies and ensuring a risk-free, compliant workshop environment.
  • Monitor department budgets and expenses, propose cost-saving initiatives, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, authorities, and service agents, to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Develop and lead the maintenance team through training, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in managing heavy equipment maintenance, preferably within logistics or container handling operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of preventive maintenance systems (PMTS) and equipment calibration processes.
  • Proven experience in budget monitoring, cost control, and procurement, including evaluating quotations and managing vendor relationships.
  • Sound understanding of EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) standards and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach and develop technical teams while maintaining high operational efficiency.
