BUSINESS STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

The Business Strategy Development Manager will play a pivotal role in driving both organic and inorganic growth of the Distribution Division by identifying and securing new business opportunities, forging strategic partnerships, and enhancing market presence. Central to this role is the responsibility of attracting established pharmaceutical principals and third-party brands within Sri Lanka into the company’s nationwide distribution network, with the objective of significantly expanding and diversifying the existing portfolio. The position requires a strong emphasis on market intelligence, opportunity identification, and strategic execution, including the development of both short- and long-term growth initiatives in collaboration with senior leadership. The candidate will also be responsible for closely monitoring performance and ensuring the disciplined execution and follow-through of business initiatives, thereby driving sustainable revenue growth and strengthening the organization’s position as a preferred distribution partner in the industry.

Healthguard Distribution, a fully owned subsidiary of Sunshine Holdings PLC, is Sri Lanka’s first Distribution-as-a-Service (DaaS) model in the pharmaceutical sector, serving over 3,500 healthcare retailers and hospitals island-wide through an extensive distribution network. The company distributes pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, perfumery, sanitary products, and other pharmacy-related products, and operates with GMP and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, demonstrating its commitment to quality, compliance, and operational excellence.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • A degree from a recognized university in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Finance or a related field. A master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) or a professional qualification such as CIM/CIMA will be an added advantage
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategy, business development preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare Industries
  • Strong research & analytical skills, commercial acumen, and strategic thinking capability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Data Analytical tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple stakeholders
