Job Description

About Raia Lake

Sri Lanka's newest ultra-luxury wildlife destination, Raia Lake sits on the banks of Yoda Wewa beside the iconic Yala National Park. Twelve tented suites blend seamlessly into the wilderness, pairing authentic safari adventure with pure luxury. As we prepare to welcome our first guests, we are building an exceptional team to establish Raia Lake as South Asia's defining wildlife retreat.

The Role

The Sales & Marketing Manager is the commercial engine of Raia Lake — driving occupancy, revenue, and brand positioning across international luxury travel markets. This is not a conventional hotel sales role: it demands deep knowledge of ultra-luxury boutique hospitality, high-touch agent relationships, and a proven ability to build a property from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full sales and marketing strategy: luxury travel agents, DMCs, OTAs, and corporate accounts across USA, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia
  • Conduct proactive sales calls, trade visits, and site inspection trips for key DMC and high-value corporate contacts
  • Build and manage relationships with luxury travel consortia (Virtuoso, Relais & Châteaux, SLH) and OTA partners
  • Lead digital marketing: social media strategy, website content, SEO/SEM, and review platform management
  • Drive revenue yield management — pricing strategy, channel mix, and RevPAR optimisation — reporting to the Resident Manager and owners
  • Represent Raia Lake at travel trade shows and industry events; create bespoke marketing collateral and manage the annual marketing budget
  • Support pre-opening strategy, soft launch planning, and the resort’s commercial identity from the ground up

What We Are Looking For

Essential

  • 5–8 years’ luxury hospitality sales & marketing experience, with proven occupancy and revenue results
  • Degree, diploma, or CIM/SLIM qualification in Hospitality, Marketing, or related field
  • Background in a boutique property: safari lodge, eco-retreat, villa collection, or intimate resort
  • Established network of luxury travel agents, DMCs, and OTAs across key source markets
  • Strong commercial acumen: revenue yield management, P&L awareness, and budget ownership
  • Excellent English; an additional language (German, French, Mandarin, or Arabic) is a strong advantage
  • Pre-opening or new property launch experience (significant advantage)

Desirable

  • Experience with Virtuoso, Relais & Châteaux, SLH, or similar luxury consortia
  • Proficiency in PMS/CRS/CRM platforms and digital analytics tools
