ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts including consolidated accounts, annual financial statements, variance analyses, and account reconciliations within stipulated reporting deadlines.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely execution of transaction processing, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial records.
  • Liaise with auditors, banks, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders to facilitate efficient financial operations.
  • Ensure timely preparation, payments and submission of all statutory and tax returns, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, SSCL, and Stamp Duty.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including periodic stock counts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, internal controls, and statutory requirements.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Finance/Accounting with part qualification in CA Sri Lanka (Strategic Level), CIMA, ACCA, CMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting and finance in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience in taxation, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, SSCL, and Stamp Duty.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to SAP will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical capabilities coupled with integrity, professionalism, team work, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proximity to Homagama will be considered an added advantage.
