AGRONOMIST
We are ‘Vidullanka PLC’, a pioneer in the renewable energy industry in Sri Lanka. A champion for greener and cleaner ways to conduct our business, we are engaged in the development of Hydro-power, Biomass, Solar and other forms of renewable energy sources for a sustainable planet. We are seeking a dynamic Agronomist to oversee and develop the agricultural value chain of our plantation operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Setting up and managing agri value chains with emphasis on energy crops.
- Ensure targeted crop yields for Gliricidia, ipil ipil, etc. are achieved timely and efficiently.
- Lead and oversee agricultural R&D, development, harvesting, and maintenance activities.
- Develop and maintain out grower farmer networks, strengthening partnerships with local farmers.
- Implement effective crop management strategies and optimize resource allocation.
- Manage budgets and cost optimization while ensuring profitability.
- Supervise and train plantation workers, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety policies.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture / Plantation Management or related qualification. (MBA/MSc is an added advantage.)
- Minimum 5- 7 years of experience in a similar role within the plantation/agriculture sector.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding on sustainable soil, water, plant management and climate change.
- Experience in farmer training and agricultural R&D.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to field-based responsibilities.
