Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily maintenance, repair, and operations of the metro bus fleet, ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy, safe, compliant with regulatory requirements, and available for service as scheduled.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of depot fleet operations, including vehicle allocation, maintenance scheduling, driver supervision, fuel management, regulatory compliance, safety monitoring, cost control, and fleet performance reporting to ensure efficient and reliable transport services.
- Monitor preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely servicing, inspections, and breakdown repairs.
- Oversee mechanical and electrical diagnostics, fault identification, and corrective actions for buses.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, transport regulations, and workshop procedures.
- Coordinate with operations and depot management to plan vehicle availability and minimize service disruptions.
- Inspect completed repair work and ensure quality standards are met before vehicle release.
- Manage workshop resources, including tools, equipment, and spare parts usage.
- Maintain maintenance records, service histories, and prepare operational and technical reports.
Qualifications
- Having passed the G.C.E.(O/L) examination in six subjects in one sitting with credit passes for four subjects including Sinhala/Tamil, English and Mathematics
- Having passed three subjects (other than the General Paper) at the G.C.E. (A/L) examination
- AND possession of a National Certificate / National Diploma in Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office, maintenance record systems)
