Background
ICEI is a Italian based International Non-Government Organisation, has been working in Sri Lanka since June 2005, when it first came to the country to support the recovery from the dramatic consequences of the 2004 Tsunami.
Since then, ICEI has been implementing projects for the emergency and disaster rehabilitation projects as well as development projects in the sectors of organic and rural agriculture and responsible tourism.
Position Title: Logistician
Duty Station: Monaragala – ICEI Head Office
Report to: Project Manager
Duration of the Contract: Short Term Contract starting from 01 July 2026 and ending 31 October 2026
Job Purpose
For providing technical support and co-ordinate the entire process of the project logistic and procurement needs - the process of procurement of goods, services and informations through entire project cycle - to ensure it is efficient, cost-effective and satisfies the needs of the farmers and project beneficiaries based on the project rules and regulations.
Logistic Assignments
- Develop logistic planning for project implementation.
- Implement methodologies and tools for an effective execution of logistic plans.
- Coordinate logistic activities and staff.
- Take care of the daily maintenance of vehicles and provision of the supply of any item or service needed for the smoother running of the project in liaison with the Administrative and Human Resources Manager.
- Coordinated with all external suppliers and services providers and venders entire process of the supply chain based on the project rules and regulations.
- Implementing strategies to reduce costs, streamline processes, and improve the overall efficiency of the entire process of the purchasing of goods and services.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers, vendors, and clients to understand their needs and ensure successful coordination.
- Support the Administrative and HR manager in daily administrative work when needed
- Supervise and coordinate assigned staff activities (drivers, guards, domestic staff) for an effective and efficient running of daily project implementation.
- Perform other tasks as required.
Procurement Assignments
- In accordance with ICEI rules and procedures, support the project manager identifying and contracting suppliers, negotiating best legal and commercial conditions.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with all contractual terms and conditions.
- Promptly inform the project manager on any possible problem that might threaten project implementation and provide sound recommendations on possible steps to be taken to reduce and solve the problem.
- Follow the products and equipment supply chain in each step from the supplier identification to the final delivery and or installation reporting to the Project manager about possible drawbacks or delays that may affect the deliveries.
- Follow technical indication provided by the Project Manager during the suppliers identification, contracting, planning and building phases of the productive units.
- Obtain necessary import/export licenses when required.
- Make first check on Procurement documentation and on the proper use of all procurement procedures, bid matrixes, purchase orders and contracts, to ensure that they are according to ICEI and Donors rules.

Essential Skills and Experiences
- Bachelor Degree in a Logistics Management or Logistics and Supply Chain Management or Operations and Logistics Management or Transportation and Logistics Management or any other related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working as a logistician in a leading organization.
- Minimum 2 year of experience in procurement procedures, ideally gain at an INGO.
- Good writing English skills
- Experiences in producing high-quality official related documents related to logistical arrangements.
- Require to travel to the field whenever needed.
- Computer literacy in MS Office package and internet use.
An attractive salary package would be offered for the correct candidate depending on experience and qualifications.
Contractual Information
The initial duration of the agreement is five months from the date of signing. Renewal may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the first period, and also according to availability of funds. Any other contractual matter is defined in the Contract and ICEI staff rules and regulations. Age should be less than 33 years old.
