Assistant Accountant – TAX

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT, SSCL, APIT, and CIT filings in compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor an effective tax control framework to identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks.
  • Liaise with the Inland Revenue Department and the Tax Appeals Division, representing the organization in tax assessments, settlements, and appeal hearings.
  • Oversee tax audits and investigations, ensuring proper documentation, reconciliations, and responses to regulatory queries.
  • Manage and review intercompany transactions, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and alignment with group policies, including reviewing intercompany agreements.
  • Provide strategic guidance on tax planning and compliance, ensuring optimization within the legal framework.
  • Independently manage tax matters for multiple entities, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the group.
  • Keep abreast of changes in Sri Lankan tax regulations and proactively advise management on potential impacts.

Ideal Profile Qualification & Experiences

  • Passed Finalist in CIMA, ACCA, CA Sri Lanka is a must.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the apparel sector.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a challenging environment.
  • Strong knowledge of local tax laws and a basic understanding of international tax practices.
