Assistant Accountant – TAX
Roles And Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT, SSCL, APIT, and CIT filings in compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor an effective tax control framework to identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks.
- Liaise with the Inland Revenue Department and the Tax Appeals Division, representing the organization in tax assessments, settlements, and appeal hearings.
- Oversee tax audits and investigations, ensuring proper documentation, reconciliations, and responses to regulatory queries.
- Manage and review intercompany transactions, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and alignment with group policies, including reviewing intercompany agreements.
- Provide strategic guidance on tax planning and compliance, ensuring optimization within the legal framework.
- Independently manage tax matters for multiple entities, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the group.
- Keep abreast of changes in Sri Lankan tax regulations and proactively advise management on potential impacts.
Ideal Profile Qualification & Experiences
- Passed Finalist in CIMA, ACCA, CA Sri Lanka is a must.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- 10+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the apparel sector.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a challenging environment.
- Strong knowledge of local tax laws and a basic understanding of international tax practices.
