Overview
The Sri Lanka Support Unit manages part of Australia’s aid program in Sri Lanka and provides strategic and technical advisory services to the Australian Sri Lanka High Commission, along with administrative, monitoring, evaluation and investment management.
Skills for an inclusive economy requires dedicated project management capacity to ensure that day to day implementation, partner coordination, contract management, work planning, reporting, operational follow up, logistics and compliance processes are managed efficiently, enabling the Skills Lead to focus on higher level technical leadership, program design, advisory and strategic engagement.
Position Summary
The Project Manager – Skills for an inclusive economy is responsible for day to day management and operational coordination of S4E activities, in line with approved workplans, budgets, contracts and agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Project management and implementation coordination Coordinate the day to day management of S4E activities in line with approved workplans, budgets, contracts and agreed timelines.
- Partner coordination and follow up Serve as the main day to day coordination point for S4E implementing partners on operational matters and ensure timely reporting and follow up.
- Work planning and activity tracking Coordinate planning, updating and monitoring of S4E annual, quarterly and monthly workplans; track progress and provide timely updates to partner teams.
- Contract and procurement coordination Coordinate procurement processes, contracts and supplier relations; ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Milestone and deliverable management Maintain milestone trackers and ensure deliverables are completed on time; coordinate associated documentation and reporting.
- Budget and financial management Monitor and support budget planning and financial oversight; track expenditures and support budget revisions.
- Reporting coordination Prepare inputs for routine implementation updates, progress summaries and reporting for review by the Skills Lead, MEL and other stakeholders.
- Event, mission and consultation coordination Plan and coordinate events, visits and consultations; arrange logistics and related documentation.
- Risk, compliance and safeguarding coordination Monitor and support risk, compliance and safeguarding activities; contribute to risk mitigation planning and reporting.
- MEL, communications and administration support Support Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, communications and administrative functions; coordinate partner reporting and information gathering.
- Key Working Relationships Maintain clear and proactive liaison with the Skills Lead, senior technical staff, MEL, finance and administration teams, and SLSU partners.

Work planning and activity tracking
- Coordinate the development of annual, quarterly and monthly workplans and track progress against milestones.
Contract and procurement coordination
- Coordinate contracting, procurement and vendor management activities.
Milestone and deliverable management
- Track milestones and deliverables; ensure documentation and reporting are complete and timely.
Budget and financial management
- Maintain budgets and track financial information; support reporting and forecasting.
Reporting coordination
- Prepare inputs for routine reports, progress summaries and reviews; coordinate with MEL and other teams.
Event, mission and consultation coordination
- Coordinate field visits, reviews and consultations; arrange logistics and follow up documentation.
Risk, compliance and safeguarding coordination
- Support risk and safeguarding measures; ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
MEL, communications and administration support
- Provide support for MEL activities, communication tasks and administrative duties as required.
Key Working Relationships
- Reports to Skills Lead
- Works with Senior Technical Lead, MEL, Finance and Administration, and SLSU team members; implementing partners.
