Company Overview
Established retail and furniture manufacturing business with an island-wide dealer network across Sri Lanka. Main manufacturing in Uva Province; head office centrally located in Welimada. Currently undergoing an exciting phase of technology transformation including the design and implementation of a new custom business system.
Role Overview
A pivotal Senior position within the business, overseeing daily financial operations, inventory costing and local tax compliance at Welimada HQ. The role leads and mentors a dedicated finance team of 5–6 members, and serves as the primary financial stakeholder in the new accounting system build, collaborating with a third-party software development company.
Qualifications & Education
- Degree: Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Certification: Full / partial CIMA or ACCA (or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 4–5 years in a similar accounting capacity.
- Industry: Manufacturing and/or retail background highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Team Management: Manage, guide and oversee the finance & accounting team of 5–6 members.
- KPI & Performance: Establish and track KPIs for all business units to drive efficiency and financial accountability.
- System Input: Act as financial expert supporting the new custom ERP build — define the workflows, reporting structures and internal controls.
- Financial & Inventory: Oversee general ledger, cash flow, supplier invoices and retail/manufacturing inventory costing.
- Tax & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all Sri Lankan statutory requirements and IRD filings.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, management reports and manage year-end audit preparations.
Skills & Experience
- 4–5+ years’ experience in accounting / finance roles
- Strong, up-to-date knowledge of Sri Lankan tax law and IRD compliance
- Proven experience in manufacturing and/or retail environments
- Understanding of accounting workflows within business systems; able to consult on new software builds
- Strong leadership, communication and people-management skills
- Ability to supervise a team in an operations-focused environment
