Project Development and Communications Officer - Colombo
Acted is an international non-governmental organization working in 40 countries around the world. Acted began operating in Sri Lanka since 2005 in the aftermath of the Indian Ocean Tsunami. Over time, Acted has worked on humanitarian and disaster response, promoting climate smart and inclusive economic growth, civil society development, ending gender-based violence (GBV) and social cohesion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Development Support
Support the development of project proposals, concept notes, donor reports, and related documentation. - Social Media Management
Manage organizational social media platforms, create engaging content, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with branding and donor visibility requirements. - Leverage AI tools and digital trends to enhance social media, content, and organizational visibility.
- Use AI-driven communication tools to improve engagement, analytics, and campaign impact.
- Communication Strategy and Visibility
Develop and implement communication and visibility strategies, ensure consistent branding, produce communication materials, and document project achievements, success stories, and impact to enhance organizational visibility and stakeholder engagement. - Donor Relations and Reporting
Support donor engagement by preparing communication materials, reports, presentations, and ensuring compliance with donor visibility requirements. - Media and Public Relations
Build and maintain media relations, coordinate coverage of organizational activities and events, and support responses to media inquiries. - Documentation and Knowledge Management
Maintain and organize communication assets, ensure proper documentation and archiving, and support knowledge sharing and organizational learning initiatives.
Education
Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Studies, Marketing, or a related field.
Professional Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in communications, preferably in NGOs, development organizations, or international agencies.
Experience in social media management, digital communications, and content creation.
Experience in project proposal development and donor communications.
Technical Skills
Strong writing and editing skills in English.
Experience managing social media platforms and analytics tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, graphic design tools (Canva / Adobe Suite), and content management systems.
Photography, videography, and multimedia editing skills are considered an asset.
