Vacancy: Junior Associate (Attorney-at-Law)

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Attorney-at-Law to join our legal team as a Junior Associate. This role is ideal for a recently enrolled or early-career Attorney-at-Law who is keen to develop practical experience in corporate, commercial and intellectual property law within a dynamic legal practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in company secretarial matters, including incorporations, statutory filings, maintenance of statutory registers and corporate compliance.
  • Preparing, reviewing and assisting in the drafting of board resolutions and other legal documentation.
  • Assisting with trademark applications, renewals, assignments, oppositions and correspondence with the National Intellectual Property Office.
  • Conducting legal research on corporate, commercial, intellectual property and regulatory matters.
  • Liaising with clients, regulatory authorities, government institutions and other stakeholders on legal and compliance matters.
  • Assisting with legal due diligence exercises, corporate restructuring and commercial transactions.
  • Attending to filings before the Registrar of Companies, the National Intellectual Property Office and other regulatory authorities.
  • Assisting senior attorneys in client consultations, negotiations and other legal matters as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
  • A degree in Law will be an added advantage.
  • Prior experience in corporate, commercial or intellectual property practice will be an advantage, although newly enrolled Attorneys-at-Law are encouraged to apply.
  • Sound knowledge of the Companies Act and company secretarial practice will be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong legal drafting, analytical and research skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and strong computer literacy.
  • High level of attention to detail, organisation and time management.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preference will be given to candidates who have completed their academic and professional qualifications and are available to commit to full-time employment without significant examination-related interruptions. Court work is not a part of this job.
