FULL-TIME Based in Colombo
Earth Systems is a global leader in environmental science and engineering, with offices across Australia, China, Lao PDR, Senegal, Rwanda, Vietnam, Colombia, and the UK, and, since 2025, in Colombo. We're seeking a young, talented specialist ecologist, ideally with international ecological impact assessment experience, to help develop and expand our business, working on diverse, exciting projects alongside our international offices for public- and private-sector clients worldwide.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Ecological assessment is central to much of Earth Systems' work. This role provides specialist technical input across forestry, agriculture and restoration projects, from baseline ecological surveys to habitat assessment and offset suitability, while collaborating with colleagues worldwide to deliver high-quality ecosystem outcomes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Technical Delivery
- Ecological and environmental assessments for forestry, agriculture and restoration projects
- Project manage and oversee technical ecology inputs across consulting projects
- Baseline ecological surveys, targeted flora and fauna surveys, habitat assessment and offset suitability
- Support restoration projects delivering carbon sequestration and biodiversity benefits
Collaboration & Growth
- Support business generation activities and identify new opportunities
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations in English
- Collaborate with colleagues worldwide to deliver ecosystem outcomes
What You'll Bring
- Relevant postgraduate qualification
- Specialist ecological skills (botany, ornithology, herpetology, forestry, or similar) with field experience
GOOD TO KNOW
HIGHLY REGARDED
- Direct experience in ecological/environmental impact assessment
- Familiarity with IFC, IUCN and other international standards
- Proficiency in GIS and field data tools (e.g. QGIS)
- Tamil and/or Sinhala language proficiency
