BANKING ASSISTANT / COURT CLERK

LITIGATION AND LEGAL RECOVERIES DEPARTMENT

You should ideally:

  • Possess a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a bank/financial institution
  • Possess good Sinhala and English typing skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Have the ability to work cooperatively with others while maintaining flexibility in approach
  • Be an effective communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess good knowledge and experience in Court Registry procedures and court-related documentation
  • Have the ability to prioritize urgent work and manage competing deadlines effectively
  • Be capable of attending to urgent requirements without compromising the quality and accuracy of work
  • Possess strong public relations and interpersonal skills to maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Have a proactive attitude and strong commitment to delivering timely and accurate outcomes

You will be mainly responsible for:

  • Assisting Legal Officers in litigation matters, court proceedings, document filing, and follow-up actions to ensure timely case management
  • Providing administrative support by maintaining court files, retrieving records, and coordinating documentation requirements
  • Maintaining effective relationships with courts, Land Registries, Company Registries, and other external stakeholders to facilitate legal processes
  • Coordinating postal and registry activities, including dispatching, tracking, and confirming delivery of legal and court-related correspondence
  • Typing and proofreading legal documents, including motions, plaints, affidavits, proxies, and other court submissions
  • Preparing court filing documentation by organizing, photocopying, compiling, and maintaining records of documents required for legal proceedings
  • Filing cases and legal documents in court, monitoring case progress, maintaining court diaries, and following up on summons, notices, and court payments
  • Attending to Land Registry searches and record retrieval activities, including obtaining extracts, certified copies, and other information required for legal matters
